The greater the electric field strength, the faster the electric potential drops along the direction of the electric field lines, meaning the greater the potential difference per unit distance. Calculation Formulas for Electric Potential Difference
- Definition: Uab = Wab/q, where Uab is the potential difference between points a and b, Wab is the work done moving a charge from point a to point b, and q is the charge.
- Uniform electric field: U = Ed.
Formula Analysis:
(1) In a uniform electric field, the potential difference between the endpoints of two line segments of equal length that are parallel to each other is equal.
(2) The faster the potential changes with spatial position, the stronger the electric field strength.
